The UK's Gambling Commission (UKGC) and the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cross-border regulatory cooperation.
The agreement was formalized last week during a visit by UKGC Chief Executive Andrew Rhodes to Dublin, where he met with GRAI CEO Anne Marie Caulfield.
According to a statement by the GRAI, the MoU “establishes a framework for cooperation” and outlines key principles for collaboration between the two regulatory bodies.
“This memorandum of understanding with the UK Gambling Commission is an important step in formalising the working relationship between the two regulators and I would like to thank Andrew Rhodes, and a number of his colleagues across the various areas of the Commission for their advice and support over the past number of months,” said Caulfield.
Highlighting the shared landscape between the two nations, Caulfield added: “Ireland and the UK share many of the same operators and gambling practices, so putting this agreement in place will enhance our ability to share information and discharge our respective regulatory responsibilities effectively.”
She emphasised that open dialogue and ongoing cooperation will be “paramount” as the two authorities continue working closely in the years ahead.
