Kentucky saw $218.9 million in online sports bets in February, down 19.2% from January's handle but up 14.3% year-over-year. The Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation reported that gross revenue was $32.2 million, down 10.5% from January but up 54.2% year-over-year.
Kentucky retail sportsbooks located at Churchill Downs, The Mint Cumberland, Ellis Park, Kentucky Downs, Oak Grove, Red Mile, Sany’s, and Turfway Park posted a combined $5.7 million handle, down 6.1% from January. As for revenue, they reported $458,262, which was down 34.2%.
Among the eight licensed Kentucky sportsbook apps, DraftKings led the market with $80.7 million in wagers and $11.9 million in revenue. Fanatics Sportsbook reported $10.1 million in wagers, FanDuel $74 million, bet365 $23.9 million, BetMGM $11.2 million, Caesars $10.7 million, PENN Sports $5.6 million, and Circa Sportsbook $2.3 million.
Retail betting options in Kentucky have recently seen a new addition to the mix. Earlier in February, Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) opened Owensboro Racing & Gaming, its seventh historical horse racing entertainment property in the state.
The $100 million gaming and entertainment venue in Owensboro features 600 historical racing machines (HRMs), a retail sportsbook, and simulcast wagering. It also offers a variety of food and beverage options.
