Online betting activity in Brazil soared in the first quarter of 2025, with traffic to betting platforms rising 90% from the previous quarter, driven by the implementation of iGaming regulation at the start of the year, according to data from betting information platform Aposta Legal.
The newly regulated market registered more than 5 billion visits during the quarter, equivalent to over 650 visits per second. The surge marks a dramatic acceleration compared to the second half of 2024, when site traffic remained relatively stable, at 2.55 billion visits in Q3 and 2.66 billion in Q4.
In January, the first month under the new regulatory framework, betting sites recorded 1.7 billion visits. Although the figure dipped slightly to 1.4 billion in February, it rebounded strongly to 1.8 billion in March — the highest monthly volume recorded to date.
According to Aposta Legal, the regulatory shift appears to have boosted public interest and prompted major operators to increase investments in advertising, brand visibility, and strategic partnerships.
Betano led the market in popularity, drawing 1.1 billion visits in Q1, including a 25% increase from February to March. Superbet and bet365 rounded out the top three most visited platforms.
