SBC Summit Americas to kick off with U.S. and LATAM leaders panels

The upcoming SBC Summit Americas will open its conference agenda on May 14 at the Broward County Convention Center with a Leaders Track designed to unite North and Latin America’s gaming sectors under one roof.

Julie Brown, Vice Chairman of the Florida Gaming Control Commission, will deliver the opening remarks titled “Welcome to Florida.” Brown, who played a key role in establishing the Commission, will provide insights into Florida’s regulatory landscape.

Bill Miller, President and CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA), will follow with a discussion on how the changing political environment in the U.S. is affecting the future of legal gaming. He will focus on emerging technologies, evolving consumer behavior, and the increasing emphasis on responsible gaming.

Lori Kalani, DraftKings’ first Chief Responsible Gaming Officer, will lead the session “It’s More Fun When It’s For Fun.” She will explain how the company is integrating responsible gaming practices into its platforms.

Moreover, SBC Managing Editor Jessica Welman will interview Ari Borod, Chief Business Officer of Fanatics Betting and Gaming, who will discuss how Fanatics is positioning itself in the U.S. sports betting market through innovation and ambitious strategies.

Day one of the Leaders Track will also feature three key Americas panels. “LatAm Leaders – Beyond Brazil: Balancing Growth Across LatAm’s Other Markets” will focus on the expansion of Latin American markets beyond Brazil, with a panel featuring experts from Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and other regions. The session will be moderated by Karen Marcela Sierra-Hughes from GLI. 

The “Sports Betting Leaders: Tech vs Sports Books – What Are the Odds?” panel will delve into the integration of AI and other emerging technologies into sports betting platforms, with panelists Stuart Simms from FairPlay Sports Media, Behshad Behzadi from Sportradar, and Endre Nesset from Coolbet

Finally, “iGaming Leaders: Omnichannel Strategy for Enhanced Customer Experience” will examine the convergence of online and offline gaming experiences, with panelists including Kresimir Spajic from Betfred US, Oliver Bartlett from BetMGM, and Lee Terfloth from Delaware North.

The event will also feature a series of sessions on fantasy sports, starting with “The State of Fantasy Sports in America.” These will cover topics such as the crossover between fantasy sports and sports betting, regulatory differences, and the industry’s technological evolution over the last 30 years.

The day will conclude with “Ask the Regulators,” an interactive Q&A session with Ed Martin and Tom Sage of the Sports Betting Regulators Association, and Shawn Fluharty, President of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States. They will provide insights into U.S. gaming legislation.

Day Two will continue with another round of panels in the Leaders Track, focused on the future of the gaming industry.
