Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa is creating over 600 new jobs across a range of positions, set to provide a major boost to the local economy. The move comes as the Rideau Carleton Casino prepares to reopen under the Hard Rock brand.
In May 2017, OLG selected Hard Rock Ottawa as the successful new casino partner for the Rideau Carleton Casino site. This partnership between HR LP (owned by Hard Rock International) and RCR Investor Inc. is working to build a new state-of-the-art entertainment facility that will bring the iconic Hard Rock brand to Ottawa.
The company is now holding several job fairs to hire for roles in customer service, food and beverage, hotel operations, table games, marketing, security, surveillance, slots, retail, and valet.
“It’s equivalent to an audition, something that you would see on Canada’s Got Talent,” Vice President of Human Resources Nannette Dean told CTV Morning Live Monday.
According to Dean, the recruitment process consists of four stages: registration and pre-screening, a panel interview to assess personality, a one-on-one interview to evaluate specific skills, and on-the-spot job offers.
She added that the hiring effort includes positions ranging from entry-level to supervisory and management roles, offering opportunities for candidates at all stages of their careers.
Rami Zok, Vice President of Hotel Operations, cited the company’s dynamic culture as a major attractive point, noting that Hard Rock is a global brand with more than 300 locations worldwide.
He added that the hotel and casino structures have already been completed and that an official opening date will be announced soon.
Moreover, Concordia University economics professor Moshe Lander told CTV Morning Live Monday that the permanent jobs will have a positive impact. “(Creating) 600 stable positions is a great boost to the local economy as long as the workers can find their own suitable housing, family doctors, schools for their children, and easy, affordable public transportation,” he said.
Hiring events will take place on April 22, May 6, May 7, and May 22 at Rideau Carleton Casino, 4837 Albion Road.
