Sports betting operator Sportium, a company within the CIRSA Group, released a report on the Spanish market revealing that betting volume linked to esports on digital channels grew 70.9% in 2025 compared to 2024.
In its analysis, the company stated that the growth demonstrates “an evolution that, far from being a temporary phenomenon, consolidates a structural trend that has been transforming the habits of Spanish digital bettors for years.”
According to Sportium, this sustained growth places “esports in a true leadership position within the online betting ecosystem.” The data also revealed that, excluding professional football, four of the five most-bet competitions on digital channels are esports events.
Sportium’s Trading and Product Director, Alfredo Kindelán, commented: “The 71% growth in esports betting on digital channels in 2025 is not a surprise; it is confirmation of a trend we have been observing for years.”
“The fact that four of the five most-bet competitions in digital are esports shows that esports have stopped being an emerging segment and have become the central axis of digital betting in Spain. The data indicates that this trend will continue accelerating in the coming years,” he added.
According to Sportium, the ranking of events with the highest online betting volume in 2025, excluding football, is as follows:

The company explained that the NBA is “the only traditional sports competition that manages to remain in this digital channel Top 5.” In this way, the world’s most-followed professional basketball league was surpassed in digital betting volume by an electronic football competition.
Meanwhile, eSoccer clearly leads the market, surpassing the NBA by nearly 46% in betting volume. This scenario highlights the speed at which esports are reshaping the sports betting landscape in Spain.
Within the esports universe, electronic football (eSoccer) and electronic basketball (eBasketball) stand out.
eSoccer leads by a wide margin, with competitions such as the Esoccer H2H GG League, the eAdriatic League, and ESportsBattle E-Football among the most active. Meanwhile, eBasketball is emerging as the second major force in the segment, led by the Ebasketball H2H GG League.
“This concentration around electronic football and basketball reflects a clear pattern: Spanish digital bettors are embracing esports through sports formats they already know and follow, but in their electronic version. This entry path is accelerating the mass adoption of the category,” Sportium concluded in its report.
