Wyoming’s Governor Mark Gordon on Monday put his signature on House Bill 0133, turning it into law for regulated sports betting in Wyoming to open.

Gov. Mark Gordon signed a bill (H.B. 133) Monday providing for legal sports wagering. The state will impose a 10% tax on gaming revenues, according to the measure, which estimated the state’s sports wagering market at more than $449 million, depending on conversion from the illegal market. The law will take effect Sept. 1.

All wagers will be online only with no retail shops, which is a similar setup to what Tennessee has in place.

Wyoming is the first state to legalize sports betting in 2021. Gamblers could be betting as soon as this college football season.

The Wyoming Gaming Commission estimates the state could eventually see up to $449 million in bets each year.
