The casino operators from Switzerland have started filing license applications to include online gambling in their project starting this summer. They are seeking to offer table games as well as online slots to the casino players from this year.
In the last week alone, the Federal Gaming Board has received four online license applications from casino operators in this regard. These four operators are the land-based casinos, namely Grand Casino Baden, Casino Zurichsee, Grand Casino Lucerne, and Grand Casino Davos. Most of the land-based casinos are already offering online gambling too, such as the ones getting featured on CasinoTopp. While many others have also started the process of incorporating the online vertical into their business, according to Big Time Daily.
Last summer, a new gambling act was approved in a national referendum (with 73% votes in favor), which came into full effect on January 1st. It stated that all the casino operators of Switzerland who are offering online gaming as well, should have their online games technically certified. In addition, they also need to ensure that their technology partners meet a good reputation in the market, and should not be serving anyone without local permission over the course of the last five years.
Ever since the approval of new gambling law, the above four land-based casinos have been busy signing deals with the international technology partners and have now submitted their online applications for approval. When approved, these Swiss online casino operators would be given an exclusive window of six years, where they would have to prove their mettle by building good relationships with the local gamblers.
