Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Pocono Mountains on Saturday made it easier, and legal, for gamblers to have a stake in their favorite sports contests. Casino officials cut the ribbon Friday on the new retail sportsbook at the Monroe County attraction, followed by a public launch event running from 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday.
The new, non-smoking gambling area offers 40 TVs for sports viewing, luxury lounge seating and 12 poker tables, Mount Airy said in a news release. It features "eight sports betting kiosks for 24/7 betting action .... just off the casino floor in a 3,800-square-foot private location, suited to entertain approximately 75 guests."
"We’re constantly investing in our player experience and are proud to offer our customers both a retail sportsbook and an online interactive gaming experience," Todd Greenberg, Mount Airy’s general manager, and chief operating officer said. "Now, our guests can watch, bet and play cards all in the same integrated location — and during sporting events’ infamously long commercials, they have the option of gaming from their phones at the world’s largest online poker site," he added.
The sportsbook is open 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday at the casino in Paradise Township.
The opening follows Mount Airy’s partnership announced Monday with FOX Bet and PokerStars representing Pennsylvania’s first online gaming offering, according to the casino. PokerStars, PokerStars Casino, and FOX Bet are now all available to customers in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
