Ernest L. Stevens, Jr., Chairman and national spokesperson for the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA), was the first recipient of an ICE Landmark Award when he attended the gaming technology event as the guest of organizers, Clarion Gaming.
The Landmark Award, which was presented by Clarion Gaming’s Managing Director Kate Chambers, was in recognition of the significative contribution Stevens, Jr. has made in highlighting the positive impacts of Indian gaming, as well as his support for the development of the ICE brand, including the launch of ICE North America, the second edition of which takes place across 13-14 May, New Orleans, USA.
Speaking at the award presentation, which was held following the National Indian Gaming Association ICE North America breakfast, Chambers said: "Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. has worked with great commitment, dedication and professionalism to educate and raise awareness of Indian gaming. During his period of office, Indian gaming revenues have risen over $39.1 billion, making Tribal government gaming the largest segment of the industry in the United States. On a more personal note, he has been a source of great inspiration to myself and the team responsible for developing the ICE brand. The insight, kindness and support he has shown over the last decade have been greatly appreciated and I am absolutely delighted to present Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. with this ICE Landmark Award."
Expanding on the purpose of the Landmark Awards, Chambers added: "ICE London provides the perfect platform to celebrate all things that are positive about the industry. It has served as the backdrop to so many success stories, whether it's the launch of products or services that have literally transformed the way the industry does business, to landmark anniversaries and outstanding contributions to the development and profile of the industry. There's no doubt that Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. is a very worthy recipient."
Stevens said: "I am very honored to be recognized on the international platform of gaming. This is a recognition I accept on behalf of the tribal leaders who I represent. As the chief spokesperson of the National Indian Gaming Association, I take my direction from the leadership and commitment of the tribal leaders throughout Indian country who work every day towards social and economic prosperity for tribal communities and their citizens."
"Tribal government gaming has been vital to achieving so much for tribal communities and beyond. As an industry, we are proud of the fact our professionals in the gaming properties are now the experts on gaming worldwide. They will be the force that will lead the next generation of the gaming industry for our next seven generations," Stevens concluded.
ICE North America is the only free exhibition and conference to showcase the full spectrum of commercial and tribal gaming innovation — including sports betting, casino, hospitality technology, lottery, eSports and affiliate marketing — and provide free practical and strategic sessions accessible for all land-based and online gaming professionals.
