Gov. Steve Sisolak formally issued a “Stay at Home” order on Wednesday, one of the multiple steps his administration has been taking since declaring a state of emergency on March 12 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The directive also extends the closure of nonessential businesses, gaming, and schools through April 30, 2020.

“This directive builds on previous directives around school closures, social distancing, closure of nonessential businesses, and bans on public gatherings of 10 or more people by requiring you stay at home unless leaving is absolutely necessary."
Essential employees should continue their work activities, making sure to take proper precautions, like frequent handwashing, staying home if they are sick and abiding by aggressive social distancing protocols.
Nevada also formed a COVID-19 Response, Relief and Recovery Task Force, led by former MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren, who shared its first update on the state's battle against the coronavirus Monday morning.
During a press conference via Facebook Live last week, Sisolak defended a lengthier business closure than President Donald Trump's recommendation, saying he bases all coronavirus-related measures on his team of doctors and experts’ advice, and not on "hopes, emotion or politics."
