Macau: visitor arrivals down by 84 percent in first half of 2020

The amount in visitors from mainland China (2,339,589), Hong Kong (652,522), and Taiwan (81,628) – which make up the majority of local visitation – all recorded decreases of more than 80 percent for this six month period.

According to Macau's Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), the number of visitor arrivals reported in the first half of 2020 saw an 83.9 percent year-on-year drop to more than 3.26 million.

Just in June, a total 22,556 visitor arrivals were reported, a fall higher than 90 percent from the same month last year, with 93.4 percent of the total coming from mainland China, Macau Business reports.
