The resort says the measure, which went into effect on September 11, is a "continued effort to further protect the health and wellbeing of our guests and employees."

The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas announced that from September 11, guests are prohibited from smoking in all public walkways and resort corridors. However, there are designated areas where smoking is permitted.

The restrictions went into effect just days before MGM Resorts International announced that Park MGM will be fully smoke-free when it reopens at the end of the month, KTNV Las Vegas reports.

The Cosmopolitan says the change is a "continued effort to further protect the health and wellbeing of our guests and employees."

Masks are mandatory inside of the resort, but the casino says guests can remove their mask while smoking.

Below is a list of designated locations where smoking is permitted:

  • on the casino floor while seated at a table game with plexi-glass dividers
  • on the casino floor while seated at a slot machine
  • seated inside The Cosmopolitan Race & Sports Book powered by William Hill
  • seated inside of a lounge
