Circa Las Vegas receives license from Nevada Gaming Commission

Circa Resort & Casino Las Vegas was licensed Thursday by the Nevada Gaming Commission.

The first from-the-ground-up casino built in downtown Las Vegas in 40 years, owned by Derek Stevens, will open its doors to the public October 28, but the hotel tower won’t be ready until December.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board on Sept. 9 recommended approval of the licensing. Thursday’s commission vote was unanimous and expected since Stevens has been licensed nine times in the last 12 years for other properties, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Stevens has provided amenity details this month. The property will include 1,350 slot machines — about the same number as Golden Gate and D Las Vegas combined —, 49 table games, 777 rooms with 60 suites, six restaurants, five bars and six pools in the three-tiered Stadium Swim “aquatheater” on the fifth floor. The three-level sportsbook will host the VSiN sports betting television studio and have radio booths for up to three broadcast teams at a time.

The sportsbook, presented as the world's largest one, will have 1,000 seats for viewers, a Circa-branded football contest and a hotel tower with 777 rooms and a rooftop view of the city at the Legacy Club.
