The subsidiary of TV streaming platform fuboTV has secured permission from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to offer advance deposit online sports wagering within the state through a market access agreement with Casino Queen. Fubo Gaming is set to launch its mobile sportsbook in Q4 2021, featuring an integration of sports wagering and live streaming with fuboTV.

Fubo Gaming has received approval to offer online sports wagering from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, the company announced August 31. Chicago-based Fubo Gaming launched earlier this year with the project of creating an “omni-screen ecosystem” for wagering.

By having secured this permission by the IRGC, Fubo Gaming, a subsidiary of sports-first live TV streaming platform fuboTV Inc., is enabled to offer advance deposit online sports wagering within the state of Iowa through a market access agreement with Casino Queen.

This approval marks an essential step within the company’s plans for the near future: Fubo Gaming is set to launch its mobile sportsbook, Fubo Sportsbook, on track to go live “in the fourth quarter 2021,” according to a press release statement.

Once launched, sports bettors in the state will enjoy “a new, innovative mobile sportsbook” including an enhanced wagering experience through the “Watching Now” feature, an integration of sports wagering and live streaming with fuboTV.

“As we enter the mobile sports betting market, we couldn’t be more excited to kick off this journey in Iowa,” said Scott Butera, president at Fubo Gaming. “We thank the IRGC and Casino Queen for being the perfect partner in helping us cross the goal line and bring this sportsbook to the passionate sports fans of Iowa.”

Fubo Sportsbook is designed as a “holistic, hyper-personalized” betting experience that integrates what users are watching on fuboTV, combining data from both the betting and streaming platforms.

By leveraging this user behavior data, the company aims at better understanding consumer’s viewing preferences, thus recommending relevant bets. Fubo Sportsbook’s intends to turn “passive viewers into active, engaged participants.”

“We believe Fubo Sportsbook will provide an elevated sports entertainment experience that will bring increased interaction and engagement between sports viewing and betting,” further added Butera. “We are working with regulators in additional markets as we aim to truly innovate the gaming space.”

Besides Iowa, Fubo Gaming has also obtained market access agreements in four other states: Arizona, through a partnership with the Ak-Chin Indian Community; Pennsylvania, via The Cordish Companies; and Indiana and New Jersey, via Caesars Entertainment.

The Arizona partnership with the Ak-Chin Indian Community is the latest one secured by Fubo Gaming, announced earlier this week, August 30. Sports betting is set to launch in the state on September 9.

“This agreement marks another monumental step in our journey to bringing Fubo Sportsbook to consumers, expanding our sportsbook’s reach to at least five states,” stated David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of fuboTV upon the announcement.
