The Tonto Apache Tribe has become the first in Arizona to launch a retail sportsbook at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino in Payson, Arizona, announced the tribe on Wednesday. “Over the last several years, we have worked diligently to secure our sports wagering license and today marks a significant milestone for Tonto Apache,” said Tonto Apache Chairman Calvin Johnson. “In conjunction with our world class partner, we look forward to offering a dynamic sportsbook, supporting the local community and bringing more visitors and sports fans to the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino.”

Moreover, starting on Thursday, September 16, Tonto Apache is launching mobile sports betting statewide through the TwinSpires online app. “This opportunity will also present great opportunities and economic benefits for our people,” added Johnson on the new launches.

Besides the 10 tribal licenses, other eight operators have also received permission in the state in partnership with professional sports teams. Operators licensed but that haven’t launched yet include BetRivers, Golden Nugget, Bally’s, Unibet, Fubo Sports.
