The sports betting and casino solutions provider Digitain recently announced the incorporation of Margarita Cruz as its new Senior Commercial Director, who has more than 20 years of experience in commercial positions in Europe, Latin America, and North America.
In order to further understand the challenges that the executive has assumed in her new role, as well as in the contributions that her trajectory will allow her to provide, Yogonet had an exclusive interview with Margarita Cruz.
The new member of Digitan's sales team predicted a full agenda for the remainder of the year, holding meetings with both current and future partners.
In addition, she emphasized the need to prioritize partners' requirements in order to develop solutions tailored to their demands and stressed the importance of attending all key trade events in Latin America to nurture their sales channel in the region.
What expectations do you have for this new role at Digitain?
I have always admired Digitain throughout my sales and commercial roles across continental Europe, Latin America, and North America in both B2B and B2C iGaming verticals.
Digitain is a trusted and respected brand with over 20 years of experience in technology delivery within the iGaming supply chain. With my expertise in international markets, I look forward to building market share and sales pipelines in continental Europe and Latin America.
It will be an incredible journey throughout this year, as I meet with existing partners and welcome new customers onboard to the innovative Digitain platform solutions.
How will you use your extensive experience in sales and iGaming to help drive revenue for Digitain?
Revenue is the output of listening closely to the partners' business, commercial, and technical requirements. I pride myself in working with partners to deep dive into those fundamental requirements, and of course, at each stage of the project, playback those goals to make sure expectations are firstly met and delivered.
Combined with my interpersonal skills, my sales and business expertise have allowed me to have both a macro and micro understanding of several complex international markets of operations, working on large-scale and medium-sized delivery projects. This expertise is both B2B and B2C, helping to understand the partners' needs further and develop the appropriate solutions to their unique demands.
How do you see the development of the Latin American market? Does Digitain consider it a priority market?
The truth is that it is a huge and spectacular market. I am not surprised by the expectation generated in recent years. On the other hand, Latin America has been working for a long time to regulate iGaming, slowly governments are starting the complex process, beginning with Colombia in 2016, then Peru in 2022, and now Brazil finally moving forward, and very soon Chile.
Hopefully, each country will take the necessary steps as an independent state to establish a regulation that is truly beneficial for both parties. Any regulatory steps should be facilitative, not restrictive, as Latin America is especially difficult due to its regulatory peculiarities and history.
Latin America is a growing market for Digitain, given the popularity of sports betting and gaming in general. Our brand continues to attend all the key commercial events in the region and has a growing number of partners using our platform solutions.

How do you think Digitain's growth will be in this region in the short term?
Envisioning the short-term outlook, as a business, we prefer long-term growth and cultivating strong partnerships within the region.
We are pleased with our recent active participation in industry exhibitions in Latin America and will continue to nurture the sales channel through our physical presence at events.
Digitain is a company that attends all industry events in Latam. Do you follow closely the regulatory processes in the gambling sector that are taking place now in different countries, such as Brazil or Chile? How do you think it can affect the company's activity?
At Digitain, of course, we monitor and evaluate any pending regulatory changes in the industry, not solely within Latin America but across international markets as well. The most recent news is that a senator in Brazil presented a proposal to also regulate bingo, casinos, and "jogo do bicho", and that in Chile there is a proposal to end bookmaker sponsorships in the world of sports, looks promising.
Digitain is a corporately responsible supplier and continues to expand its licenses and certifications to service its growing list of partners operating in multiple markets.
As a business, we support a regulatory framework that ensures responsible gaming practices, consumer protection, and overall market sustainability. Final licensing requirement guidelines and regulatory changes help everyone in the supply chain to grow in that market.
