UK gambling treatment support network GamCare has appointed D’Arcy Myers as the new interim CEO following Anna Hemmings' departure two months ago.
Myers is described by GamCare as a highly experienced independent charity consultant with expertise in effective strategic development and change processes in not-for-profit organizations.
“I am excited to be joining GamCare and supporting our staff and partners in the hugely important work they do. I look forward to meeting as many staff, service users, and partners as possible in the coming weeks,” Myers said.
A charity CEO for twelve years, he has successfully led a number of charities through periods of change including Allergy UK, The Percy Hedley Foundation, the TV and Film charity, and The Solicitors Charity. A founding member of the Small Charities Coalition, D’Arcy was also the Chair of The Association of Charitable Organisations and The Smallwood Trust.
“I am delighted to welcome D’Arcy to GamCare. His wide-ranging experience will be invaluable for the organization at a time of great change for this sector,” Margot Daly, Chair of Trustees, said.
Hemmings, who served as CEO of the company for five years, announced her decision to leave the organization in May to explore new opportunities.
“I’m very proud of both the services and the staff and culture at GamCare, and I would like to thank all my amazing colleagues and the phenomenal network of stakeholders for their dedication and support during my time as CEO," Hemmings said at the time of her departure.
GamCare acknowledged Hemmings' contributions as CEO, citing her efforts in strengthening both traditional and digital channels, diversifying education and support offerings, and enhancing the role of lived experience within the organization.
