The MGM Resorts Foundation has awarded more than $2.7 million in grants to non-profit organizations located in communities in which MGM Resorts operates. The communities include Southern Nevada, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Northeast Ohio, the DC Metropolitan area, and Western Massachusetts.
As per the company, 107 non-profit organizations received funding from the Foundation's Community Grant Fund. These organizations provide services around affordable housing, economic opportunity and workforce development, K-12 education, family services, food insecurity, health and wellness, homelessness, services for seniors and services for veterans and military families.
The MGM Resorts Foundation was established in 2002 as a platform for MGM Resorts employees to contribute to charitable causes. Employees play a central role in the operations of the Foundation, contributing to the Community Grand Fund consistently throughout the year, the company notes.
Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $100 million and supported more than 1,500 charitable organizations. MGM Guests are also able to contribute to the foundation.

The grant allocation process is overseen by the Community Grant Councils, comprised of volunteer employees representing their respective regions. These committees are responsible for assessing and determining the distribution of funds to local non-profit organizations.
“MGM Resorts employees continue to amaze us with their generosity and commitment to our local communities. On behalf of our 107 grant recipients, thank you for your donations and even more importantly, for enlivening our company's belief in investing in our communities through giving as well as volunteerism," said Maria Gatti, Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Engagement.
Last year, the foundation awarded nearly $2 million in the form of 82 grants to non-profit organizations located in communities around the country in which the gaming giant operates.
