Sports bar and bowling alley Bowlero has become the first business in Deer Park, Illinois, to receive a license to operate video gambling machines.
The village board, on Thursday, selected Bowlero as it is the sole entity in the town meeting the eligibility criterion of having 30,000 square feet of space and serving alcohol.
“The board was OK with the request as long as it’s limited to Bowlero. The village appreciates and values our relationship and partnership with Bowlero and is pleased to help promote business while maintaining our top priority of safety,” said Village Administrator Beth McAndrews, as reported by The Daily Herald.
Bowlero will be permitted to run up to six machines and will pay an annual license fee of $250. While Illinois legalized video gambling machines in 2009, this marks the first time that gambling enthusiasts in Deer Park will have access to them.
