Tropicana Las Vegas demolition scheduled for October 2024

Bally's Corporation has announced plans to commence the demolition of the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas resort in October 2024, following the property's closure on April 2.

Having operated for over six decades since its opening in 1957, the closure marks the end of an era for the historic establishment.

Bally's Chairman Soo Kim revealed that the decision to cease the operations was made to coincide with the conclusion of the peak tourist season, allowing ample time for preparations ahead of the redevelopment. Kim emphasized that the plan had been in motion for some time, ensuring a smooth transition for the property's transformation.

The demolition of the Tropicana will pave the way for the development of a state-of-the-art ballpark, which is slated to become the new home of the Oakland Athletics upon their relocation to Las Vegas. The project signifies a significant step forward in the evolution of the Las Vegas Strip, with the iconic resort making room for a modern sporting facility.

Following the resort's closure earlier next month, plans are underway to construct a 10-foot demolition wall around the site. Clark County has issued a permit for the 5,098-foot enclosure, with an estimated cost of $500,000. This preliminary step sets the stage for the forthcoming demolition process, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Las Vegas Strip.
