The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) has granted Northside Crown Gaming, a subsidiary of DraftKings, a four-year master sports wagering license. This permit allows for retail betting operations at its sportsbook adjacent to Chicago's Wrigley Field, the city's oldest professional sporting venue.

The license granted to Northside Crown Gaming will be subject to review and reapproval in 2028, as will Northside Crown's management services provider license. That second permit allows DraftKings to offer mobile betting alongside its retail product.

In addition to licensing Northside Crown, the IGB has also approved a similar mobile betting license for Crown IL Gaming, another DraftKings subsidiary that was formed to operate a sportsbook at East St. Louis' Casino Queen.

DraftKings' venture into retail betting at Wrigley Field commenced earlier this year, offering in-person betting services alongside food and beverage offerings.

The launch came at a considerable cost, with DraftKings paying the Illinois Gaming Board the full $10 million license fee for the privilege
