Las Vegas: Harry Reid International airport sees 1.5% increase in passenger traffic in April

According to a report from Harry Reid International Airport, the number of people flying in and out of Las Vegas remained steady last month. LAS served 4,881,617 passengers in April, a 1.5% increase over the same month in 2023. That brings the year-to-date count to 18,610,436 people, a 1.6% rise.

International travel saw the biggest year-over-year change, with a 17.1% increase. Domestic travel was up 0.7%, while west side and helicopter traffic dipped 7.3%.

While Reid officials did not want to speculate about the decline in the latter category, a company representative familiar with westside terminal operations said the downturn is the result of pilot and maintenance worker shortages, reports Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Carriers Delta (12.5%), Southwest (11.3%), and United (10.7%) all saw double-digit increases over their respective passenger counts one year ago. An outlier was Spirit, which saw a drop of over 20%.

Reid International will welcome a new foreign carrier in October after Irish operator Aer Lingus earlier in May announced nonstop flights three times a week between Las Vegas and Dublin, reports Review-Journal.

The airport set a record for passenger traffic in 2023 and is on pace to eclipse that total in 2024.
