All game suppliers aiming to provide services to Danish-licensed gambling operators must first obtain a licence from the Danish Gambling Authority from January 1, 2025. Applications for these licences will commence on September 1, 2024, the authority announced on Friday.

The Danish Gambling Authority has already made available guidance materials and application forms on its official website to facilitate this process. On the page “Game suppliers” under "For businesses and Associations", suppliers can read more about the application process.

According to the Danish Gambling Authority's requirements, game suppliers must ensure that their games, platforms, business procedures, and systems undergo thorough testing and inspection. This testing is mandatory and must be conducted by accredited testing companies as per the authority's certification programme.

The programme, currently under revision, aims to delineate clear responsibilities between operators and game suppliers. The new certification program is expected to be submitted for consultation in mid-July 2024, with implementation set for January 1, 2025. Updated standard reports will be accessible from this date onward.

To streamline operations, the Danish Gambling Authority will introduce a new portal named the 'Games Register' by October 1, 2024. This portal will serve as a central hub for managing game certificates. Upon application, game supplier applicants will receive login credentials to upload the necessary information and game certificates.

Existing game certificates and certifications obtained under the current regime will remain valid, obviating the need for re-certification of previously tested games or systems. However, starting July 1, 2025, compliance with the new certification programme will become mandatory.

The authority urges game suppliers and operators alike to adopt these updated standards promptly to ensure regulatory compliance and operational continuity. For further inquiries regarding the application process for a game supplier licence, interested parties are encouraged to contact the Danish Gambling Authority through their official contact form.
