Most revenue came from slots and tables

Detroit casinos report $105.4 million June revenue, up 2.6% from last year

The three Detroit casinos posted $105.44 million in monthly aggregate revenue (AGR) for June. As reported by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, $104.55 million was generated from table games and slots, while retail sports betting contributed $889,014. The monthly market shares were distributed as follows: MGM held 46%, MotorCity 30%, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown 24%. 

Revenue from table games and slots increased by 2.6% compared to June 2023; however, it was 6.1% lower than the previous month. From January 1 through June 30, revenue in this segment increased by 0.4% compared to the same period in 2023. Combined slot and table game revenue for the three casinos through the first six months of 2024 was $644.7 million

The casinos’ monthly gaming revenue results were mixed compared to June of last year with MGM up 3.6% to $48.71 million; MotorCity down 3.1% to $31.47 million; and Hollywood Casino at Greektown up 9% to $24.37 million.

The casinos paid $8.5 million in gaming taxes to the State of Michigan, up from $8.3 million in June 2023. Additionally, they reported $12.4 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.



MGM Grand Detroit

The total retail sports betting handle for June was $8.4 million, with gross receipts amounting to $894,867. The qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) for retail sports betting were down by 52.2% in June when compared to May this year. 

MGM reported a QAGR of $154,265, MotorCity posted $460,693, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown saw $274,056. The casinos paid $33,605 in gaming taxes to the state and $41,072 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit from their retail sports betting revenue.
