The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will return to Macau for the first time in a decade, with a fight night scheduled for November 23, 2024, at the Galaxy Arena, a newly opened cultural and entertainment venue by Galaxy Macau.
This marks the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) organization's fourth event in the special administrative region of China, with the last held in August 2014. The event will be held under the name UFC Fight Night Macau.
The announcement followed the signing of an agreement between UFC and Galaxy Macau at the Galaxy International Convention Center where UFC’s Senior Vice President for Asia, Kevin Chang, and Galaxy Entertainment Group’s Chief Operating Officer for Macau, Kevin Kelley, formalized the event’s details.
“We are ecstatic to be back at this incredible destination city. Our last UFC event here was a decade ago in 2014, and since then, our brand has grown by leaps and bounds. We are proud to partner with Galaxy Macau and can’t wait to put on an electrifying show at the state-of-the-art Galaxy Arena to the delight of fans across the region,” Chang said.
The collaboration aims to promote Macau as a prominent destination for sports events under the theme of “Tourism + Sports.” UFC entered the Asian market in 2010, with Macau serving as a key location for the organization. The city previously hosted three UFC Fight Nights in 2012 and 2014.
Galaxy Arena, Macau’s largest indoor stadium, with a seating capacity of 16,000, will host the event, which is part of Galaxy Macau’s broader portfolio of international sports events. Galaxy Macau has been involved in organizing numerous sports events in alignment with the Macao SAR Government’s development strategy.
With the Greater Bay Area set to co-host the 2025 National Games, the collaboration between Galaxy Arena and UFC holds particular significance. Galaxy Macau said it aims to highlight the city's strategic location, tourism assets, and enthusiasm for sports, while advancing the integration of sports and tourism in the region.
