The Beloit City Council has approved measures that will push forward a large-scale casino and hotel development by the Ho-Chunk Nation.

The council endorsed a zoning change for four properties at Willowbrook and Colley roads, moving them from a general manufacturing classification to a planned unit development district.

This change is an important step in facilitating the construction of the Ho-Chunk Nation’s proposed $405 million casino and hotel complex, which will be situated near Interstate 90.

The plans for this development include a sprawling casino floor, several dining options, a conference center, and an 18-story hotel with 312 rooms. According to Ho-Chunk Nation consultant Collin Price, construction is expected to begin this fall.

In May this year, representatives from the Ho-Chunk Nation, the City of Beloit, and Visit Beloit unveiled fresh renderings of the upcoming casino, which is presently in the development phase.

Positioned between Willowbrook and Colley roads, the forthcoming casino will feature over 1,500 slot machines, numerous table games, and a sports betting area

Accompanying the gaming facilities will be an 18-story hotel boasting more than 300 rooms, a versatile convention center, and diverse dining options, including upscale restaurants. Despite the proximity of Rockford's Hard Rock Casino, Ho-Chunk Nation consultant Collin Price is optimistic about the coexistence of both establishments.
