The Lincoln WarHorse Casino is opening its phase two expansion next month, officials announced Tuesday. The extended casino is opening on November 4th after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:00 PM.

Lynne McNally, WarHorse’s Head of Government Operations, said earlier this year that the expansion would double the size of the building’s interior. The expansion will include more gaming stations and table games like blackjack, along with additional restaurant seating and horse race simulcasting.

However, construction is not entirely finished, and the casino is planning a third phase, which adds a hotel, an entertainment center, and an upgraded racetrack. “Get ready for more gaming, more fun, and an even better experience!” the casino said in a Facebook post.

The casino will be shut down for a 12-hour period from midnight November 4th to noon the same day, Journal Star cited McNally as saying. The casino is planning for about 876 total gaming stations with 10 table games. An additional 386 slot machines are being brought in.

The final construction will involve removing temporary walls separating the facility to open up more space to the north and south. While the casino will be opening the second phase with blackjack tables, craps are not part of the offering.

“Craps take six employees to run the game and we currently have several people in our dealer school,” McNally said. “But to man the blackjack tables and the craps table is probably not going to work for the amount of people that we got.”

Casey Ricketts, the newly nominated Executive Director of the Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission, said the construction timeframe sounded feasible. “I do think it's conceivable. I think they're in a good spot," he said.
