MGM Resorts International and Marriott International have announced plans to transform the Delano tower on the Las Vegas Strip into W Las Vegas by the end of 2024. The 43-story, 1,117-room property, originally called THEhotel at Mandalay Bay before being rebranded as Delano in 2014, will officially join the W Hotels portfolio under Marriott Bonvoy.

The move comes as part of the major collaboration between the two hospitality giants, building on their long-term strategic licensing agreement from July 2023. Steve Zanella, president of MGM Resorts operations, praised the partnership, highlighting how it has exceeded expectations and brought new opportunities for luxury travel experiences.

"W Las Vegas, the latest hotel to come to life as part of our collaboration, will allow our guests to access a new luxury lifestyle experience recognized worldwide for its distinct personality, dynamic programming and elevated service culture," Zanella said.

Marriott’s CFO and EVP of Development, Leeny Oberg, stated how this agreement enhances the companies’ joint offerings. "This agreement is a pivotal moment in our collaboration, which continues to expand hospitality and entertainment offerings for guests. As a luxury brand rooted in bold design and nightlife, W Hotels is well-positioned to elevate experiences for travelers in this destination," Oberg stated.

Since the launch of the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy in March 2024, bookings have surpassed initial projections, benefiting both brands' loyalty members, the parties said. Marriott Bonvoy’s 200 million members can now redeem points at MGM Resorts properties, while MGM Rewards members enjoy similar perks across Marriott’s global network of 9,000 properties.

Set on the Mandalay Bay campus, W Las Vegas is part of a larger portfolio of 12 MGM Collection properties on the Strip, including renowned venues like the Bellagio, ARIA, and The Cosmopolitan. Further plans for the property will be revealed in the coming months.
