The Cordish Companies has announced plans for a $15 million development project to expand entertainment options in South Philadelphia’s Stadium District. The upgrades are designed to enhance the area around its Live! Casino Philadelphia property, situated near the city’s sports venues, and to offer more amenities for Philadelphia’s sports fans and event-goers.
The proposed expansion includes a new two-story building with a rooftop “oasis,” an open-air beer garden, and a revamped Crush Bar featuring a variety of freshly prepared cocktails, reports Play Pennsylvania. Other planned additions include a major expansion of the PBR Cowboy Bar, which will feature an outdoor backyard area with a stage, upgraded turf space for events, and dedicated locations for Philadelphia’s local food trucks.
According to The Cordish Companies, the project also plans to integrate public art installations and add state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment, including large LED screens to create an immersive sports-watching experience.
“We are proud to continue investing in South Philadelphia to create an unparalleled experience for guests and fans,” said Blake Cordish, Principal of The Cordish Companies. “This investment reflects our commitment to creating a gathering space for festivals, sports viewing, and community events unlike anything in the area. We look forward to offering an enhanced experience that will continue to make Xfinity Live! the heart of Philadelphia’s Sports Complex for years to come.”
The renovations are expected to be completed in early 2026 and aim to bring more fans into the area, including those without game tickets, capitalizing on the unique structure of Philadelphia’s Sports Complex, where all four of the city’s major sports teams play in close proximity.
Since opening in 2021, Live! Casino Philadelphia has attracted sports fans with its proximity to the stadiums, providing entertainment before and after games.
Plans also include a $2 million renovation of Xfinity Live!, a popular sports bar and entertainment venue within the complex. Updates will transform Broad Street Bullies Pub into NBC Sports Arena, expand Chickie & Pete’s, and add more LED screens, an indoor/outdoor bar, and a large outdoor patio to enhance the fan experience further.
“The expanded plaza at Xfinity Live! will serve as a central hub for the Sports Complex, with new offerings such as an open-air beer garden, enhanced bar space, and outdoor gathering areas,” said Erin Seifert, Director of Operations for Xfinity Live! “We look forward to welcoming more guests and fans than ever before.”
The Cordish Companies has already invested over $800 million into the Sports Complex area, with these latest additions aiming to strengthen the district’s appeal as a year-round entertainment destination in Philadelphia.
